Being an artist is no joke. We talk with many of you each week who are struggling with confidence, creativity, or just being stuck, not knowing what next steps to take in your career. While there are days that get overwhelming, it doesn’t have to be like that EVERY day. Here are two things you can do to get unstuck.
-
When you feel overwhelmed with the “what’s next” take a minute to shift your focus on “what has been.” Think about how far you’ve come. Write down the accomplishments you made since you started your journey. Thinking about the future is good but sometimes it’s more helpful to reflect on the past a remind yourself of how much you’ve achieved already.
-
Get your thoughts down on paper. We write down lyrics, chart songs and make worktapes because we know not every idea can live inside our heads and it’s the same with business and goals. Put all your goals, visions, hopes and dreams down on paper so you can get a 30,000 foot view of them. Then start organizing them into buckets of what is most priority and what can wait. Then assign yourself tasks with DEADLINES that are manageable and realistic. ONLY focus on the priority items until those are in place. Then move to the next bucket.
